Our students are known as hardworking and socially skilled. Throughout the bachelor, students develop a good service-oriented and customer-oriented attitude.
You complete the bachelor study programme with a management internship. Who knows, the internship company might offer you a contract after your internship. Your first real job!

Hotel management positions

After completing the hotel management bachelor programme, you can start at various positions in the (international) hotel industry. But you can also be widely employed in many other hospitality-oriented organizations, in advisory or management positions. Like banking, catering, healthcare, events and tourism.

New graduates often start in job functions such as assistant general manager, assistant food & beverage manager, junior project manager, production assistant, sales executive, intermediary or as coordinator or consultant. Depending on your ambitions, you will grow into a managerial position. Learn more about the different career prospects, by reading the interviews with our graduates.

International career

Is it your dream to become a manager of a large five-star hotel abroad? Then you are in the right place, at the Hotel Management School Maastricht. Every year, representatives (mostly alumni) of hotel chains such as Marriott, Hilton, IHG and Hyatt and Accor come to our hotel school to provide information about career opportunities within their organizations.

Most hotels nowadays belong to large international groups with many career opportunities. Therefore, an international career after you graduate is certainly an option.

What else can you do?

Self-employed

Do you have the ambition to start your own business? With your bachelor’s degree in hotel management, you meet the requirements of commercial knowledge and professional competence for the establishment or takeover of, for example, a catering or liquor company.

But why wait? Start your own business during your hotel management studies! In the third year of the bachelor programme, you can combine one of the tracks by setting up your own company.

Continue studying

Do you have your bachelor's degree in Hotel Management? Don’t stop studying. Follow the international Master Facility & Real Estate Management, which Hotel Management School Maastricht developed in collaboration with the University of Greenwich in London.

Moving on to a university master's is also an option. Almost all universities offer transfer programmes. In most cases, you first need to follow a one-year pre-master. Zuyd University of Applied Sciences, together with Maastricht University, has developed a special pre-masters minor. You follow this minor during the final phase of the bachelor study programme. If you complete this programme, you will immediately be admitted to one of the following masters:

  • International Business
  • Management of Learning
  • Global Supply Chain Management and Change
  • Information and Network Economics

That way you can complete both your bachelor hotel management and your master’s in five years.

Network

Networks, clubs and groups are part of the hotel school. It starts immediately, when you live on campus as freshmen. The Student Association Amphitryon has various disputes and year clubs.
After completing the hotel management study programme, you will be part of the most important network that the hotel school has. The alumni network. The Hotel Management School Maastricht maintains good relations with alumni. You will notice this during your education.
You will see alumni during selection days, guest lectures, internships, company visits and final assessments. Our network is valuable. This is also apparent from the large number of people active on our alumni platform. The place where you, as a graduate, find your old fellow students, share knowledge, look for vacancies or promote your own company.
