Admission requirements

The master Facility and Real Estate Management has a selection procedure. We accept around 20 students a year. The master starts once a year, in September. Registrations for the master will be considered year round.

We advise international candidates, who will need to apply for a visa, to apply before 1 June and European EEA students to apply before 1 July. This way their application can be processed before the start of the academic year.

Candidates will not have to pay admission costs. Our admission committee evaluates degrees for free.

Every candidate is obligated to sign up through Studielink and will have to submit the following documents (as a set) to masters.hmsm@zuyd.nl to qualify for the selection procedure: 
 

  1. A copy of a degree or transcript of a relevant, 3 year/ 180 credits Bachelor education in for example Facility Management, Real Estate/Brokerage, architecture, International Business, Business Administration, Hotel Management, Hospitality Management or Built Environment. 
  2. Competence in English. Since the programme is in English, students will have to prove their level of the English language by means of an IELTS or TOEFL certificate. The requirements are: IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL 550, TOEFL Computer-based, 79-80, a Cambridge Advanced exam or an alternative certificate of C1 level English granted by an academic secretary of the university. (Take into account that original certificates are needed to participate in the programme) (When you believe you qualify for exemption of the English proficiency requirement, you can argue your point during the college interview with the selection committee.)
  3. A copy of your passport
  4. One passport photo
  5. A motivational letter
  6. Two reference letters (for example from an employer or teachers of your bachelor education). 

How does it work? 

  1. Make an account through www.studielink.nl and enter your personal information. You will immediately receive your login data on the email address you provided. 
     
  2. Log in with your credentials and check your personal information and details regarding your previous education (both on the to-do-list).
     
  3. Add a new registration. Select the following:
    The right academic year/ Hogeschool / Master education / Zuyd Hogeschool / Master of facility and real estate management / Maastricht / fulltime. After this a few more personal questions will be asked. 
    Make sure to check if your application is processed successfully.
     
  4. Zuyd University will receive your application within a day and will start to work on it as soon as possible. You will receive an email within a day with your credentials for the Zuyd portal and Osiris Application. In Osiris Application you will be able to upload the documents required to start our master. We recommend you to do this as soon as possible. The sooner your application is complete, the better your chances will be to get accepted.
     
  5. Once your documents are complete, the Bureau Application will check if you are admissible for the education. If you are, you will be included in the selection procedure and we will make a first assessment and plan a personal interview (if necessary over a webcam) with the selection committee. After the interview, candidates will be assessed. Degrees, level of the English language, references, motivational letter and presentation during the interview will be taken into consideration. 
     
  6. Lastly you will be informed about the result of your selection as soon as possible and then your registration will be completed.

International students should take the Dutch Immigrant procedures into account. These differ per nationality.
