Let's catch up with alumnus Daan Kahmann - Business Leadership Program - Global Sales - Associate at Linkedin | 21 februari 2018

Alumnus Daan Kahmann (F-2018) will start his dream job at Linkedin summer 2018. Read about his amazing journey and passion in the interview below.

How did you end up in your new (first) job?

When I did my operational internship in London I moved in with Irish lads for the last two months. One of the lads, who was part of the Irish group of friends who were living in London, was working for a recruitment agency. After a few months he left his job to start working for LinkedIn in his hometown Dublin. After he made the move, and started telling me about the company and what it’s all about, I was certain; this company was going to be my dream company and I was going to do whatever it took to get a job at this company. After studying for another year, and continuously talking to my buddy about LinkedIn, my last internship came up. I decided to self-seek an internship, which I wanted to do at LinkedIn. However, due to the acquisition of Microsoft, I couldn’t do an internship at that time. So my dream had to wait for another 6 months. After the long wait of 1,5 years, the moment was finally there; I was able to apply for the role of Business Leadership Program - Global Sales Associate. After three tough, but extremely educational interview rounds I finally got the news; I was going to live my dream! I was allowed to join the BLP team in July in the city I dreamed of living in: Dublin! I will start this role in July in London.

Where do you see yourself in five years’ time?

In five years' time I see myself making a difference in the world. I want to leave the world a better place than how I’ve found it. I have the feeling that my values are extremely aligned with LinkedIn’s values, mission and vision. Therefore, I believe that I will still work for LinkedIn where I will be able to coach, lead and help employees to reach their full potential. If LinkedIn turns out to be less a match than I expected it to be, I will start my own coaching company where I will provide coaching sessions to help people unlock their true potential and live life to the fullest.

Do you have any tips for the current hotello’s?

Go and enjoy your time in Maastricht to the fullest. Being part of this unique hotello community is something that is truly special. I would give the tip to travel as much as you can, since that has taught me the most over the course of the last 4 years. Take all the opportunities school is offering you to make amazing trips. Moreover, always be grateful, humble and believe in your own capabilities! You are unique and you matter! Your story is unique and worth sharing!

Anything else you would like to share?

I have my own website and I write weekly blogs. One of my blogs is about why I believe dreams do come true. I have explained my story of ending up at LinkedIn in more detail and included some life lessons I have learned.
