Presenting in Nairobi, what a trip! | 22 november 2017

Fourth year student Anniek Kahmann of Hotel Management School Maastricht presented her final project at the EuroChrie in Nairobi. Read the story of her unforgettable experience!

On Sunday October 22 I got the opportunity to present our final project together with Armand Odekerken and on behalf of other project group members Gaby Janssen, Marleen van Kaam, Sascha Uelderink and Lotte Wijnen, at the EuroChrie 2017. Presenting at the EuroChrie is a very informative experience, but this year was extra special because the EuroChrie was held in Nairobi!

Tour Nairobi

The first day was reserved for a tour and we had the opportunity to experience the city. The tour started with a visit to Strathmore University followed by a visit to an orphanage for elephants. After we saw how the elephants were fed it was our turn to feed the giraffes in the Giraffe Center. During the afternoon program we visited Kazuri. Kazuri is a company where local women make handmade beads. The final stop of the tour was in Karen Blixen museum, who we know from the movie “Out of Africa”.

Presentation EuroChrie

The EuroChrie Conference started on the second day. We presented the paper “In need for engaged talents? Apply the customer journey!” for Hunkemöller. The presentation went really well. A lot of people attended our presentation and they recognized what had been said. After our presentation we had the opportunity to visit other presentations. The day ended with an outdoor barbeque and dancing in the rain with Kenyan children. What a great day!

Design Thinking

On the third and last day we made a contribution to the Symposium about Design Thinking. Armand Odekerken presented and we assisted during the world café discussions. After that we attended other workshops. The conference ended with a fantastic gala dinner.

What a great, informative, fun and unforgettable trip!
