Where we come from, what we leave behind
From 28-31 March, approx. 300 third- and fourth-year students will walk the Trails of Global Minds in the region around Vaals. These are the students who sadly missed the international internship due to the pandemic, and along with that, the opportunity to dive into different cultures, step out of their comfort zone and literally and metaphorically find their way in a new environment.
Because they unfortunately had to miss this opportunity, we would like to offer them an experience that contains these elements.
• Knowledge about the world and your own environment
• Knowing the perspective of others
• Taking action for sustainability and the well-being of all
'Trails of Global Minds' is a hike in the area around Vaals, where students step out of their comfort zone, meet different people, learn about the Euregio and its place in the world. Every day about 80 students walk 20 km on four different, magnificent and challenging routes, divided into groups of four or five. In the end of each day we will welcome our students with a special guest and of course with a super nice F&B experience.
The hike has an extra dimension: it is also a sponsor hike. With the amount raised during the Trails of Global Minds hike an emergency fund will be formed to support the Ukrainian and Russian students of HMSM who are in financial need now and in the near future. Do you want to give the students a boost? Then support them!
The group of students who raised the most, will win a dinner and drinks at restaurant Luster on the Vrijthof in Maastricht, made possible by former student and owner Loek Rekko [F 2018].
The epitome of hospitality. The Foundation HMSM helps young people so that they can study at the Hotel School.
Students who missed their internship due to Covid, will walk the Trails of Global Minds. An international experience!
Jean Maroun (19) got into financial need. Thanks to fundraising of the Foundation HMSM he can continue his studies!
