Bas Vogelsangs appointed Dean of Hotel Management and Facility Management

The Executive Board has appointed Bas Vogelsangs as Dean of Hotel Management School Maastricht and the School of Facility Management at Zuyd University of Applied Science, effective October 1, 2022. Bas is currently working as director at Avans School of International Studies. Before starting in higher professional education, he worked in international business.

Experience in international business and education

After completing his studies in Commercial Economics at Avans Hogeschool, Vogelsangs held various commercial, management and board positions. At Selecta Group, a leading European supplier of innovative food solutions at the workplace and on the road, he successively held the position of Managing Director Selecta Belgium and director of Marketing & Sales Selecta Benelux. After almost 20 years in business, he made the switch to Avans University of Applied Sciences in 2015. First as a lecturer in International Business, then among others as Program Director and Deputy Director at the Academy for Marketing & International Business.

Bas Vogelsangs (1973) graduated in Commercial Economics from Avans University of Applied Sciences. In 2008, he obtained his Executive MBA at Nyenrode Business University and studied at the renowned Kellogg School of Management in Illinois, United States. Vogelsangs is known as a travel-loving 'foodie', hobby cook and frequent visitor of (Michelin star) restaurants. Vogelsangs is married and lives with his wife Brigitte in 's-Hertogenbosch.

The Executive Board is also pleased with this appointment. "With Bas, we have someone on board who combines years of management experience in higher professional education and international business. This, in combination with, on the one hand, his international background in − among other things − the facilities and food sector and, on the other hand, his entrepreneurial, social and open personality, means that we have every confidence in Bas. We wish Bas every success and look forward to working with him," said Vice-President Olaf van Nugteren.

Bas succeeds Ad Smits who retired earlier this year.
