The launch of the Global Mind Monitor 3.0

"The Global Mind Monitor is an assessment for students and professionals to reflect on their global competences. They can monitor their development based on the effects of educational activities at home and abroad."

On 23 March,  our research centre Global Minds @ Work held its third annual research and education event. This year's special theme was the launch of the new portal and survey of the Global Mind Monitor 3.0 that was redeveloped during the past year by Global Minds @ Work in co-creation with Etil Research Group and Digilize

Inspiring speakers

To celebrate this momentous occasion, Darla Deardorff, the founder of the World Council of Intercultural and Global Competence and UNESCO special advisor, gave an inspiring online keynote. This was followed by a conversation with Titia Bredee (Director NUFFIC), Saskia Brand - Gruwel (CvB) and Jana Janssen (Vista College) about Internationalisation in turbulent times.

Workshops and best practices

The GMM 3.0 was officially launched with a ritual ceremony led by Gong Master Marcus de Vries. The 75 delegates from within Zuyd and the 18 Dutch and Flemish universities partnering in the Global Mind Monitor (GMM) then dispersed for a series of workshops on research with the GMM and education best practices.

What is the Global Mind Monitor?

The GMM is an assessment for students and professionals to reflect on their global competences. They can monitor their development based on the effects of educational activities at home and abroad. Concrete  parameters help lecturers to conduct evaluation interviews with students. The GMM can be used once-only, before/after a period abroad or longitudinal. Also, there’s an option for a 360° feedback questionnaire, giving additional insights from 3 people in the students network. The new tool, now also including questions about our thoughts, feelings and actions towards sustainability, comes together with a brand new portal. The portal has some new features such as a toolkit with a variety of ideas for intercultural learning as well as blogs and vlogs from and for students. Besides, interesting news items in the field of global competence development are shared.

The research centre would like to thank all colleagues who participated, a special mention of Lyvie Schoenmaeckers for the flawless organisation and the Refresh crew for the delicious Lebanese style lunch. We can't wait to see you next year!
