You will have the following modules:

In the part-time version, the modules are divided over two years. In the first year you will complete the modules: Research Skills, Strategic Facility Management, Strategic Asset Management, and Strategic Real Estate Management. In the second year you will complete the modules: Multiple Value creation in FREM environments, Leading Change in FREM environments, Workspace Solutions, Research preparations, and you will write your thesis.

What you will learn

  • You will learn how to help organizations achieve their goals by providing attractive working environments, suitable facilities and good accommodation, while taking into account planet, people and prosperity.
  • We focus on the four types of challenges faced in the world: Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity and Ambiguity (VUCA). 
  • Discover what type of leadership suits you and the context in which you operate
  • You will become a (positive!) critical thinker; someone who reflects and reasons and asks questions to get to the core.

Admission requirements

The master is a selected entry programme, we accept a maximum of 25 students per year. We receive more applications than we can place. The sooner you apply, the better your chances of securing yourself a spot!

Part-time studies

The Master Facility and Real Estate Management (FREM) is offered in full-time and part-time. 

Are you looking for a way to grow in your current profession? Would you like to deepen your knowledge and become better equipped for senior roles? The part-time variant of the programme allows you to combine your current job with studying. You will have classes one day a week with an estimated workload of 20 hours. The part-time programme takes 2 years.* 

An advantage of studying alongside your profession is the opportunity to put theory into practice right away. Develop a new dimension to your work!

*Part-time is only possible for EU students

If you are a motivated full-time student who aims to excel in their studies and future career, you might be eligible to apply for the FREM Excellence Grant. This is a scholarship of € 1,500 discount on your tuition fee. This scholarship is awarded to max. 10 students. How to apply can be found here

Double degree with University of Greenwich

This programme is a cooperation between the Hotel Management School Maastricht and the University of Greenwich. After graduating you will obtain a double degree (MSc). 

The study programme has been approved by the University of Greenwich (UoG), which means they ensure their quality standards as a research university. This has a positive effect on the value and recognition of your diplomas. As a FREM student you have access to all UoG systems, including the digital library with international scientific resources and papers. A huge advantage for your thesis research.
