The exam period can be stressful and overwhelming, but there are ways you can survive and even thrive during this challenging period! We listed some tips & trick to survive your exams!

“With the right preparation, attitude, and self-care, you can make it through the exam period and come out the other side feeling accomplished and proud of your hard work!”

Surviving your exam period

  • Plan ahead: Create a study schedule and stick to it. Plan out when you will study for each exam, but make sure to also build in breaks and time for relaxation. Know what you need to do and when you need to do it. This will keep you on track and reduce your stress!

  • Stay organized: Keep track of important deadlines, and make sure you have all your materials you need for each exam. Mark deadlines in bold in your agenda and download all the study materials on Moodle! This will help you stay on top of things and avoid last-minute panics

  • Stay healthy: Eating well and getting enough sleep are important to keep your focus. Treat yourself to a healthy meal at Refresh (and save the time cooking!). A coffee break once in a while is perfectly fine, but avoid excessive caffeine!

  • Take breaks: Take short breaks throughout the day to clear your mind and recharge your batteries. Go for a walk through the city or around campus and breath in some fresh air. Listen to your favorite podcast or go together with friends.

  • Find the perfect study spot: Whether you prefer studying at home or at the library, alone or in a group to test each other, it's important to find the spot that suits you best. The library at HMSM offers plenty of spots, though it can get crowded during exam periods. Did you know we have a silent study room too? (room 1.28).

According to our Instagram followers, the top 4 best HMSM study spots are: the library, Refresh upstairs, the quiet study room (1.28), and the management project rooms.
  • Practice self-care: Exam period can be mentally and emotionally draining. Remember to take care of yourself by practicing self-care activities like yoga, meditation, or reading a book. Switch off your brain and don't be afraid to give yourself time off for an afternoon or evening to focus on something else! No use in cramming all night!

You can do it!

With the right preparation, attitude, and self-care, we're sure you can make it through the exam period and come out the other side feeling accomplished and proud of your hard work! Remember to be kind to yourself and don't be afraid to take a break if you need it.
