Everything you want to know

Study programme

We combine theory with practice and invest a great deal in your personal development and guidance. Our education is small-scale, with an international community. You will organize events, run shifts in our Teaching Hotel (which is a real hotel!) or solve realistic business cases.

You will do an operational internship abroad in an international 4 or 5 star hotel in your second year, and in your fourth year you will do a management internship in the Netherlands or abroad. This can be at a hotel or other hospitality related company, depending on your specialization

In year three you will specialize your studies by choosing one of the following tracks. Choose the track that suits you and your interests the most!
•    Hotel Management
•    Foodservice
•    Horizons in Hospitality

There are many options to develop yourself and personalise your studies. We offer extra-curricular activities such as the Excellence Programme or the Student Council, you can choose your own minors, go on exchange or do a pre-master.

We offer an English and Dutch track, which is identical in content. In the English track you will be in an international classroom with both Dutch students and international students.

Living on campus

During your first year you'll live on campus in the Student Residence. You learn to live together with others, which allows you to develop skills and abilities that are required to be successful in the hospitality industry. You live in a unit with 13-15 students and share a living room and kitchen. Your own student room comes with a bed, desk and wardrobe and a private bathroom! The Student Residence is centrally located on campus and less than a 3 minute walk to the education building and Teaching Hotel.

Study costs

A full overview of the study costs can be found on our website. In addition to the annual tuition fees, there are other costs as well. For example the one-time purchase of a Tenue de Ville (school uniform), kitchen uniform, knife set, the rent of your campus room in the first year and of course study books.

Career opportunities

With a bachelor hotel management in your pocket, the world is yours. Once graduated the possibilities are endless. The Hotel Industry, Tourism and Events, Finance, Marketing & Sales or HR are just a few sectors you can start in. Discover where our students end up after graduating!

Admission & application

In order to enroll into our bachelor programme, make sure you meet our admission requirements!
In short, you'll need:

  • A secondary education diploma enabling you to follow Higher Professional Education
  • Adequate proficiency in English
  • Advanced knowledge of a second modern language

We also have a selection procedure that all candidates have to go through. This consists of two phases: A cognitive ability test in the first phase, and a personality test and personal interview in phase two.

Starting moments in September & February

We offer the opportunity to start either in September or in February. There is no difference in the study programme. Do you, for example, wish to get some work experience or travel after graduating your secondary education? With the option to start in February you can do this, without having to wait a whole year to start you bachelor's!

From 1 October 2024 you can apply to start in September 2025 or February 2026.

Moving abroad to Maastricht, the Netherlands

Moving abroad for your studies is definitely an exciting and important decision. Not only do you have to prepare starting a new study; it also means moving to a different country, adapting to a new culture and everything else that comes with it. Fortunately, you won't be alone! Before you come here we will be in touch and help you as best as we can with the preparations and steps you have to make.

In addition, Maastricht is one of the most international student cities in the Netherlands. There are many ways to find support outside the hotel school too, and there are lots of activities and events for international students in the city.
