King's Day (koningsdag) 2025 is almost here, and Maastricht is getting ready to celebrate! Every year, the city turns bright orange and comes alive with music, markets, parties, and fun activities for everyone. It’s a special time when people come together to enjoy Dutch culture and have a great time.
This year, King's Day will be celebrated on Saturday, April 26, because April 27 falls on a Sunday. That means the celebrations will start on Friday evening and continue all weekend long.
The celebrations begin the night before King’s Day, with Oranjenacht at the Vrijthof. Dutch artists like Lucas & Steve, Flemming, and local performers will take the stage. The event runs from 6:00 PM to 11:00 PM, and tickets cost around €27.50.
If you prefer something more relaxed, head into the city and explore the many smaller celebrations happening in different neighbourhoods. You’ll find street parties with live bands, local DJs, and a friendly mix of people.
For those who want to keep the night going, there is also a late-night event at Complex. offer energetic house and techno music, perfect for anyone who wants to dance into the early morning hours.

Tickets are around €30, and if you're not ready to go home afterward, there’s an official afterparty at Muziekgieterij.
Looking for something free and more casual? Head to the Oranjegloed Festival on the Vrijthof. It runs from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM and features a mix of local artists, DJs, and fun tribute acts. It’s a great spot to meet friends, enjoy a drink, and sing along in the heart of the city.
