Hotel Management School Maastricht is a Top Rated Programme!

We are proud that our bachelor's programme in Hotel Management (Zuyd University of Applied Sciences) is awarded the Top Program quality seal in 2026. In the latest edition of the Higher Education Guide, our programme achieved a total score of 82/100, earning us 4.5 stars and once again placing us among the top Dutch hotel management programmes.

Number two among public hotel schools in the Netherlands

The list consists of five public hotel schools, with Hotel Management School Maastricht (HMSM) in second place. This confirms our strong position within higher hotel education in the Netherlands.

The Keuzegids assesses programmes based on facts (such as student numbers, transfer rates, and diploma ratings) and on the basis of performance figures and student evaluations.

Our scores show that we excel in:

  • Career preparation: students feel that the programme prepares them well for the practical side of the profession
  • Progression and graduation rate: the programme is effective in guiding students to year 2 and, ultimately, to their diploma
  • Programme content and testing & evaluation score above average compared to other hotel management programmes

“The specializations in our curriculum offer students the opportunity to distinguish themselves from others in the hospitality sector.”

Why do students choose HMSM?

A number of elements from our curriculum are explicitly mentioned in the Keuzegids:

In the third year, students can choose from specialized tracks such as hotel management, foodservice, and “Horizons in Hospitality.” Linked to this are tailor-made minors (such as Haute Hospitality or Gastronomic Experiences), which allow students to distinguish themselves in the hospitality world.

Our approach of ‘Living is Learning’ is a distinguishing factor: first-year students live in the Student Residence, which creates a close-knit community and makes the transition to student life smoother.

Growth & continuous improvement

Although the 82 scored points are higher than last year's 76, we see this recognition primarily as motivation to continue growing. We continue to critically review our curriculum, invest in educational innovation, and listen to feedback from students and the professional field. Receiving the Top Programme title again shows that our efforts are widely recognized and appreciated.
