Hotel Management School Maastricht is once again a Top-Rated Programme!

We are proud that our Bachelor programme has been awarded the prestigious Top-Rated Programme quality label in 2027. In the latest edition of the Keuzegids Higher Education 2027, our programme achieved a score of 81/100 and received a rating of 4.5 stars. This places us for the third year in a row among the top hotel management programmes in the Netherlands.

Ranked second among public hotel schools in the Netherlands

The ranking includes five public hotel schools, with Hotel Management School Maastricht securing second place. This confirms our strong position within higher hotel management education in the Netherlands.

The Keuzegids evaluates programmes based on objective data, such as student numbers, progression rates and graduation results, as well as performance indicators and student reviews.

The results show that students are particularly positive about:

Career preparation: students feel that the programme prepares them well for professional practice and their future careers.
Progression to year 2: students make a strong start to their studies.
Graduation within five years: students graduate within five years more often than average.
Programme content and assessment: both receive positive evaluations compared to other hotel management programmes.

Why do students choose HMSM?

This year, several elements of our curriculum are once again highlighted in the Keuzegids 2027.

In their third year, students can choose one of three specialisations:

Business of Hotels
Foodservice
Horizons in Hospitality

Students can further broaden or deepen their profile through a range of minors. The Keuzegids 2027 specifically mentions Haute Hospitality and Gastronomic Experiences as examples of the diverse opportunities available at HMSM.

Our Living is Learning approach continues to be a distinctive feature of the programme. The Keuzegids highlights that students in Maastricht live on campus during their first year. This creates a close-knit community and allows students to become part of an international learning environment and network from day one, where living, learning and personal development come together.

A strong rating in the Keuzegids is not an end goal for us, but a motivation to keep improving our education. We continue to critically review our curriculum, invest in educational innovation, and listen closely to feedback from both students and the professional field. Being awarded the Top-Rated Programme quality label again demonstrates that these efforts are recognised and appreciated. Alongside this achievement, Zuyd University of Applied Sciences, where Hotel Management School Maastricht is part of, has been named the best broad university of applied sciences in the Netherlands, for the second year in a row.

The Keuzegids is an independent consumer guide that evaluates and compares higher education programmes in the Netherlands. The rankings are based on data from the National Student Survey (NSE), labour market research and figures from the Netherlands Association of Universities of Applied Sciences.
