After you have registered in Studielink, it is time to complete your online portfolio in Osiris. Before you start your portfolio, it is a good idea to make sure you know what you need to upload. Make sure to read our checklist very well, to avoid mistakes or missing documents.

We use the six reference levels of the Council of Europe (A2, B1, B2, etc.) to describe language levels. To see what each level means in practice, check it according to the CEFR: the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

Different countries, schooling systems, and institutions use different grading scales and levels of strictness. To be able to compare the results of all applicants in a fair and consistent way, we need you to provide the EQF/NQF information that corresponds to your diploma or qualification. Part of your portfolio is a short video, in which you tell us about yourself, your motivation to work in the hospitality industry, and why you want to study at the Hotel Management School Maastricht. We have prepared clear instructions on the content we expect from your video, including the technical requirements and the procedure for uploading it.

To give you an idea of the topics covered and the level of the actual numeracy test, we have created this practice sample. The actual numeracy test will consist of 35 multiple-choice and open questions and will last 45 minutes. You may use pen, paper, and the calculator provided.

Practice numeracy test

During the group assignment you work together on an innovative business challenge for the hotel industry. You will do this together with 2 or 3 other candidates. The assignment will last 1 hour and takes place in a big room, together with the other groups of candidates. After the assignment, you will have half an hour to reflect individually. This reflection will help you to prepare for the interview. To prepare for the group assignment, we advise you to get more familiar with the hotel industry by reading this general information.

During the individual interview, you will present the outcome of the business challenge, and reflect on its process with the assessors. We also assess whether there's a good match between your motivation, potential, the study programme, and HMSM. Don’t prepare too much for the interview. We would like to get to know you as the person you are. 

Your assessors are a student, an employee, and an external relation from HMSM.
