Hospitality management is all about hospitality. About excellent service. About providing the highest level of service. Hospitality is ensuring that guests are at ease and enjoy. But also that patients feel as comfortable as possible in a hospital. Hospitality is important in many more sectors than just the hotel and catering business!
The Hotel Management School Maastricht is an institution which turns young people into Hospitality Professionals. Due to the broad syllabus of subjects we cover and the specific focus on economics and management, your skills will be widely transferable across many sectors and industries all around the world. Once graduated, the world is yours for the taking!
Curriculum hospitality management
The curriculum consists of general and catering related courses. General subjects include marketing, financial management, business administration and HR management. Specific courses include oenology and Food & Beverage management. To practise what you have learned, you will do various internships during your bachelor. Right from the first year.
Hospitality management is an important part of the study programme. Another important aspect is the development of your personal skills and qualities. We train you to become a socially skilled manager with a service- and customer-oriented attitude.
Career opportunities
With a diploma in hotel and hospitality management you will face great career opportunities. Whether you aspire to an (inter)national career, want to start your own company or move on to a master in hospitality management.
Whatever country in the world you are traveling to, you will find Hotel Management School Maastricht alumni everywhere. In the international hotel industry but also beyond. They are employed in management and advisory functions, in health care institutions, service companies, in the congress and exhibition sector and in financial services.
Unique learning environment
There is no better place than our own Teaching Hotel to put theory about hospitality management into practice. The Teaching Hotel has 26 unique hotel rooms, a restaurant, bar, reception and terrace. As a first-year student you will gain practical experience in the kitchen, restaurant, housekeeping or reception.
Campus
All first-years live in student flats on our safe and convenient new campus. Your student room is fully furnished and you will have your own bathroom. Together with 13 or 15 fellow students you will form a community. You will have a living unit with cosy common room containing a fully equipped kitchen, large dining area and large seating area with TV. You can also have lunch or dinner in student restaurant Refresh.
Campus life is absolutely pleasant but also educational. You will make friends for life and you will acquire important social and practical skills.
Student life
If you are going to study hotel and hospitality management in Maastricht, you will definitely have a pleasant student life too! The city is very international with half of all students coming from abroad. Thanks to the many cafés, bars, events and festivals, there is always something going on. Our own student association Amphitryon also regularly organises parties and events. The association has its own bar on the campus.
