What were your plans after graduation?

'After graduation I embarked in the F&B planning and managing of the 700 seats Stadsoase ‘de Zomertuin’ in Eindhoven. A pop-up beach with live music, cocktails and lots of food to share. I then decided to continue my studies and went to do a masters in International Hospitality Management at the Institut Paul Bocuse & emlyon business school which allowed me to study in Las Vegas. I am now with Younique Concepts as an assistant general manager setting up their new restaurant venture in Eindhoven.'

What are important qualities your future employer/manager should have?

'The most important quality is to be able to inspire and guide. We come out of the hotel school kings of the world, however we must learn to adapt to the industry and its complex ways.'

How did you end up in your first job?

'Connections, connections & connections, it has been hammered in during my study and it's true; your network can bring great opportunities. I got to work with Younique Concepts due to mutual connections.'

Where do you see yourself in three years’ time?

'I hope to be involved with a player that is purposely transforming the hospitality industry, not only food wise but also Human Resources wise. We are in a challenging time where people are conscious of their worth and unfortunately sometimes businesses do not take it into account.'

What alumni made an impression on you? And why?

'Sven & Jos (Sven Sallaerts [F 2013 ] and Jos de Jong [F 2013]) made an impression on me, showing that the industry is very flexible and that codes are made to be broken, look at Pesca. The drive and energy they put in their ideas not only impress me but also big players in the industry.'

Can we check on you in five years?

'Yes, let's see if I helped to purposely transformed the industry.'
